Old Business:
Patricia, the club's treasurer, indicated that we had $2228.54 in the treasury.
Upcoming Event: John Engler will conduct his medium relief carving class from November 9 - 11 in Leipers Fork. If you might be interested, the details of the class can be found on the club's website under the events button.
We had a short discussion of the Wilson County Bank Oktoberfest that was held October 15-16. Those that represented the club indicated that it was a complete success. Next year we need to look into getting a spot for Matt's turning trailer. The club received a $100 honorarium for attending.
For those that attended the Tannehill Woodcarver's Club retreat at Camp McDowell, AL, they indicated that all had a great time as usual. This event is a social event where woodcarvers from AL and TN get together to carve and socialize.
New Business:
We had preliminary discussions regarding the club's holiday party that we have each year in lieu of a meeting. We discussed having it at the Town Hall on December 10th but several of the club members will be at the relief carving class on the 10th so we will need to find another day. We also discussed having it during the day, such as a lunch or late lunch, so members would not need to drive at night. Lastly, there was a discussion on reinstituting the gift exchange or doing a "dirty santa" exchange. There were no firm decisions made so we will have to plan the details via email.
Show & Tell
Two members had carvings to show at the meeting. First, .Jon displayed his woodburned dahlia that he painted using watercolor pencils. He also had an angel carved out of basswood.
Rich brought his woodburned green man that he hopes to paint in the near future. He will bring it in again whenver that happens.
